The parents of a minor retained Todd Muchnick to pursue damages to their 2 ½ year old daughter who sustained serious injuries and disfigurement in a single car accident on Interstate 55 in St. Louis County. The accident occurred when the van in which she was a passenger rolled over after the left rear tire suffered a tread separation. The girl was ejected from the van onto the highway. A personal injury lawsuit was filed against Dobbs Tire, a St. Louis area tire service company. The extensive discovery included the depositions of several experts in the field of tire failure. The allegations were that the tire shop had inspected the tire within a couple days before the accident and that its employees were negligent in not suggesting to the van’s owner that the left rear tire should have been removed from service. After a four day trial, a jury returned a verdict in the amount of $300,000 against the tire dealer.
