What Types of Benefits are Available to Injured Workers?

If you are injured at work you will typically have three benefits available to you in your workers' compensation case.  First, your employer, or its insurance company, will provide you with medical treatment.  Second you will be entitled to benefits to compensate you for your loss of income while you are unable to work, or while your hours are reduced.  Finally, you will often be entitled to a settlement for the permanent damage to your body.  If a settlement cannot be reached, a judge can award you benefits after a hearing.  For more information on these types of benefits click here.

Why Should a Lawyer Handle my Workers' Compensation Claim?

As lawyers who have handled many work comp claims, we routinely meet clients who hire us after trying to represent themselves.  Insurance companies and their attorneys will often take advantage of unrepresented workers.  Independent studies have shows that unrepresented injured workers are at a disadvantage compared to workers who retain workers' compensation attorneys.  For more information on why you should hire a lawyer, click here.
